Custom Ocular Prosthesis
Also known as a prosthetic eye or an artificial eye. An ocular prosthesis is typically fit after enucleation, a surgery in which the entire eye is removed and a spherical implant is placed. Prosthetic eyes are medically necessary for people who have lost an eye due to cancer, trauma, infection, systemic disease, or for those born with congenital anophthalmia.
Once healing from surgery is complete, a custom prosthesis helps restore orbital volume, support the eyelids, maintain tear drainage, and promote overall socket health. The prosthesis is created by taking an impression of the socket using alginate or silicone to capture its unique shape. The prosthesis is then hand‑painted to match the remaining eye.
Custom Scleral Cover Shell
A scleral cover shell is used for a blind or disfigured eye, or the remaining globe after an evisceration surgery.
The scleral cover shell restores volume, improves eyelid position, and shields the sensitive eye from irritation. It can also help patients with limited vision who experience light sensitivity. The scleral cover shell is created by taking an impression using alginate or silicone, and is hand‑painted to match the seeing eye.

Routine checkups & cleaning
We recommend scheduling a visit every six months for cleaning and polishing your ocular prosthesis or scleral cover shell
Adjustments & buildups
We provide regular maintenance, polishing, and replacement when needed to keep your prosthesis looking its best.
Custom Conformers
A custom conformer supports a sensitive blind eye and helps the socket adapt to a comfortable shape. Trial conformers are acrylic devices that are custom‑fit from an alginate or silicone impression.
Pediatric expansion conformers are provided in a series of gradually larger shapes for children with microphthalmia or congenital anophthalmia. This encourages orbital growth and improves symmetry until the child is ready for a custom prosthesis.
